Monitoring Objective:
Assess impact of urban pollutant dispersal in a Class I area.
Sampler height and location:
This sampler inlet is 4.1 meters above the ground in Saguaro National Park East on the roof of a shelter that is one kilometer south of the administrative building. The elevation is 2286 feet and there is 360 degrees of unrestricted air flow.
Land Use:
This site is situated in the National Park. The nearby light residential area has no significant local sources of ozone precursors. Old Spanish Trail had a 2006 ADT of 6,200.
Comments:
The Saguaro National Park site has been active since 1982. The operation of the site was taken over by the National Park Service in 1987. The Park Service returned operation of the site to Pima County in 1993. Geographically, Saguaro National Park is on the eastern edge of the Tucson metropolitan area. Ozone data from this site has been used to study how the levels of ozone affect natural vegetation.
